IRS

I met your mother at work in 1977. I married
my husband in April and transferred from Va. to Honolulu with
IRS. She was one of the few female agents at that time, so
we were naturally drawn to each other immediately. Roger,
I thought the world of your Mom. We became close friends in
the two years I lived in Hawaii.
In 1979 my husband and I moved to Oregon
,but we kept in touch with Christmas letters.
How she loved you kids. You were her life.
I remember when your parents were building
their house on Pali Highway. They were building it with Annabelle's
brother as co-owners if I recall. Deciding on the quality
of bathroom fixtures etc. required much tact on your Mom's
part. It is hard to get two people to agree on things, but
to get 4 people- well that takes a lot of tact and patience.
They completed the house still friends as well as relatives,
and that is no small accomplishment.
Your Mom believed in "Pro-life".
I remember when I was pregnant in 1978. I asked her so many
questions about child bearing and raising. And I remember
when I first arrived in Honolulu when she and several others
were giving me advice about fitting in . Since I have red
hair I do not look Hawaiian and needed help. They were such
good friends.
Several times during the two years I was
there, your parents and several others got together socially
on the weekends. That was when I got to know your Dad. He
is also a terrific person. I can only imagine the grief he
has fit since your mother's death.
What else do I remember? Well on Fridays
a number of us called the "lunch bunch" met for
lunch at different restaurants in Honolulu. No matter where
we were we tried to meet for lunch on Friday. Also, there
were several times your Mom and I went clothes shopping together.
We had a favorite store in downtown Honolulu and whenever
they had a good sale we were there.
