I met your Mom in l955 when I made my
first trip to Hawaii. Your Grandma Esther use to have the
family over for a big Chinese dinner and we cooked in the
big kitchen in back of the house. I was married to Charlie
Oyama for 10 years and that's how I became acquainted with
your family. Your Uncle James, Alex and Erik visited and stayed
at my house in Eugene, Oregon while they were on the mainland
going to school. Your Mom was a teenager I believe when we
first met. Beatrice was also around in those days. I see Beatrice
when I visit Hawaii and my family as she lives around Aiea
and I would see her at school events. Your Mom and I would
do alot of talking while we were cutting vegetables and doing
dishes for the family at these dinners.
Your Aunty Alan use to always say how
bright your mom was regarding her studies and then her business
ability. She believed that she acquired her business skills
from your Grandma Ester. After I was divorced from Charlie
and I would see your Mom she would always invite me to family
events and would want me to come to Las Vegas to gamble. She
was always very gracious and we were always happy to see one
another as it may have been years between visits. So we always
remembered each other a Christmas and would kind of bring
each other up to date on what our kids were doing. I really
don't have a funny story to share. Please know your Mom was
a gracious lady and I enjoyed her very much.

I'm sure that you do not remember meeting
me. You were just this little guy running around at Marn family
events. I was at one time married to Charlie Oyama and this
is how I come to know your Mom. I met her first in l955 when
I came to Hawaii for the first time. I was the haole from
the mainland that married Charlie. Your Gma Ester use to have
big family dinners at her home in those days. She had huge
outdoor kitchen and your Mom who was a teenager( I don't remember
how old ) and I did a lot of cooking and washing dishes.
I also enjoyed your uncles Alex, James,
and Erik who would come and stay at my home in Eugene, Oregon.
I still see Beatrice sometimes when I go to Aiea as she has
children near the age of one of my daughters children. Aunty
Alan always talk about how smart your Mom as and that she
got her business sense from Your Gma Ester. After my divorce
when ever I would come to Hawaii with my children I would
see your Mom and we always talked a lot about family events.
She was always very gracious to me and
my children and still always included me as part of the family.
She always wanted me to come to Vegas when the family was
going. She said "Oh Lois we'll have a great time".
but I never went. So if you have inherited some of your Mom's
business skill's you'll do very well in making choices. Sorry
that I don't have something more special things to share with
you. I know that Gpa Oyama maybe Uncle Base to you always
spoke highly of your Mom and how kind she was to him after
Aunty Alan died.
