Sharla Jensen
Cousin
Aug. 4, 1999
Thank you for thinking of me as one of
your Mom's closest family and friend. Your letter was very
touching. It seems you have grown into a loving and caring
young man. I'm sure your Mom is watching over you and is awfully
proud to have you as a son. Hope everything turns out for
you in the future.
Anna was a very kind, generous and caring
person, not to mention she was a joker and was always fun
to be with.
Although we grew up as family , I did
not get to know your Mom during her high school and college
years. She and I were having different life styles until later
in life where we caught up being a friend and a cousin.
I'm real glad that I got to know her these
past years. There was never a dull moment that I didn’t
share with your Mom. We would of course travel to our favorite
place Las Vegas and gamble to the wee hours of the night.
Your Mom was an organized person. When in Vegas the schedule
was like this gamble at night, sleep in, then shop til we
drop, eat, eat, eat.. then on to the crap table. Her favorite
food was a whole lobster. This was a must whenever we were
in Vegas. Lobster at least twice while we were there.
On the plane rides home we could not stop
giggling because we were reminiscing about all the crazy and
stupid things we did. I enjoyed the times when just your Mom
and I would meet for lunch during the week. We tried to meet
at least twice a month for lunch. I would pick her up at work
and we would be gone for two hours. She never seemed to mind
going back to work late. She was a very strong person on the
outside, but very sensitive on the inside. She did not express
her feelings openly too often unless she
was comfortable with the person. Your
Mom was the most generous person I knew. She always thought
of her family and friends first.
Of course her other true love came late
in her life (GOLF). She became an addict to the game and would
do anything to be on the golf course. (even skip a day of
work)
Her wish was to retire from work and just
play golf as much as she possibly could. Our last game of
golf was played right after New Year's with Beatrice, John
and her friends from work at the Navy Marine Golf Course.
We both tried to walk the course, but it became too much for
the two of us. After golf of course we headed to Chinatown
to eat dim sum and noodles. Mom and I went to see an acuputurer
, but I was chicken and finally convinced her not to go through
with it. I'll always remember her that day as
being jovial and funny . She did not show
the pain she was suffering.
I'm glad that she always included me and
Frank whenever the opportunity arose. I will always remember
her as my friend, confidant and cousin. I do miss her and
all the good times we shared. Please send me a copy of your
finished biography of Mom.
