Sacred Hearts Academy

Now, to get to the point of your request. Roger, let me just say that your dearest Mom was a former student of mine--when Annabelle was a green Freshman at Sacred Hearts Academy. At that time, she was the JOY OF THE CLASS always. She wore a smile on her face that never faded and never flagged in energy or emotion. To my recollection of Annabelle, I want to say that throughout her years after her graduation, she always remembered me, not only as her teacher, but as a friend. Later, after her marriage to your Dad, she kept up with short correspondence sending me a photo of the whole family every Christmas--even when I went to mission in Japan! I shall never forget her. She was wonderful in every respect. I remember that the few months before she went home to God, she came to our Alumnae luau at school. We, her teachers and friends all gathered around her and took pictures of her together with us. She looked beautiful and though her conversation was brief, her eyes spoke to me.

Roger, I can't remember any one particular story of your Mom at the moment; but I can recall classroom situations where the girls in my room depended so much on what Annabelle said or did because she was so funny. Funny in everything. No, she never made fun of people, but she found joy and laughter in the daily ordinary anecdotes that happened in classroom situations. As a student, she was academically very bright and had the talent to share it -- her thoughts on what was important in life. She respected our religion and lived her Catholic life to the hilt.

Just try to picture the scene at the Resurrection Mass offered for Annabelle at St. Stephen's Church--then you can know in your heart what a beautiful person and friend to all that she was in life. She brought happiness to everyone. I cannot tell you this enough times. She left us good memories of her life and left you and your family a heritage you can be proud of. God so loved her that He didn't wait too long to call her to her eternal reward. We truly loved her in life and even more now with the many lovely memories she has left behind. Just one more memory: I was at the McCully Shopping Center one day when there was a festival of Arts. I met her there and we had a good chat. She wanted to see the dancing and singing there. This recalled to me how much she missed doing the polka dances she imitated in school=- oh, we had fun! I loved her.

Roger, I hope I have helped you a little about my recollections of your dear Mom. And, I shall pray for you every day when I go to Mass and will definitely ask the Lord to help you write that biography. I feel sure it will be a lasting legacy of love for you and your family.

GOD BLESS YOU--in Jesus and Mary
