Dear family, friends, former classmates and former co-workers of Anna,

A lot has happened since my last update in September.  I have recently moved back to Oahu from Maui, switched employers from Hawaiian Dredging (hdcc.com) to Lincolne Scott (lincolnescott.com), and temporarily living at the family house until I can rent or own a place on my own.  Work is good.  I’m training for 3 months to be an electrical engineer and I like my company because they are doing what they can to be an expert in LEED (usgbc.com), which is an organization which promotes green sustainable design in commercial and residential construction.  We mainly consult on how to reduce our use of natural resources and bring higher efficiency to the buildings we construct.

The 1st annual Annabelle Marn Dunn Class of 1963 scholarship of $3100 has been awarded to Michelle Galvez who will apply the monies to the 2007-08 school year tuition at Sacred Hearts Academy (sacredhearts.org)  Two letters regarding the scholarship are available for viewing on this website (see link).  I will be presenting the award along with a brief speech on May 14, 2007 5:00pm at SHA gym.

As for the rest of the family, Greg just celebrated his first daughter’s one-year-old birthday, and he reports Alana is walking everywhere.  His wife, Susan, also has a website for Alana.  It's alanakimdunn.blogspot.com. He is living and working in Loma Linda, CA, back in residency, this time in radiology, and is enjoying it.  They are still planning to move back to Hawaii when they are done in 3 or 4 years, depending on if Greg does another year of training.

Laurie’s big decision to attend Harvard University in Art Education has been a pleasant surprise to us all.  It seems she really is committing her life to art and due to her experiences as a teacher after college, is looking to combine her passion for art and education by promoting art education in America.

Michael is finishing up at Citrus College and looking to transfer to Cal-Poly or UC Irvine.  His interests include piano, music theory and computer games.  He will likely major in Engineering.  He lives at home but may dorm or start driving to school.

As for Dad, James Dunn, he’s enjoying retired life spending most of his time in Duarte CA.  He occasionally flies back to Hawaii every few months and stays for a week or two.  He’s spending much of his time with Michael, his new wife, Zhiming, and his parents in Monterey Park.  He is also traveling quite a bit this summer and will be attending Jeff Casimir’s wedding on the East Coast.

I spent today visiting my mother’s grave and adorning it with red ginger, and leis of  fragrant puakinikini, hand picked from the backyard.  Too bad I forgot to bring a camera.  Otherwise, the stone needs a new fresh coat of white paint for the lettering.

So in short, there are many new beginnings for all of us in terms of living, working and studying.  All in all, we are doing well.  We look forward to hearing from all of you.  Please email me at rogerdunn@gmail.com.

Aloha and Malama Pono (take care) Xiexie, Baozhong (in Mandarin Chinese pinyin)
